B.C. Read has been performing his unique and original
style of roots and blues music throughout Western Canada since the
1970’s.His music is a mix of Chicago, Delta and Texas styles of Blues
over a generous helping of Folk, Rock and Country.
Containing 14 songs written or co-written by Read, covering blues styles
as diverse as the Piedmont acoustic sounds to the Chicago shuffles, this
is a true blues lovers recording. The album was co-produced by Canadian
Blues legend Ken Whiteley, who added his own distinct trade mark to this
product. The subjects of the songs are diverse as the styles they are
played in. "Believe Me" is a classic Chicago blues on the standard love
goes wrong theme; "Love To Keep Me Warm" a heart warming ballad ala
Delbert McClinton, on the love of
family; "Blues in Paradise" an acoustic romp in the old one take delta
tradition and of course
"That's My Tune" country blues ala Rev. Gerry Davies. B. C. Read has
developed a style all his own. This is apparent in his guitar and slide
playing. He also is a fine harmonica and mandolin player, with a feel
that sets him apart from most of his blues contemporaries. But the thing
that really sticks out when it comes to this man is the vocals.
