Smokestack Lightnin' Home Page -- The Blues Profile Page
Jerry Zybach is known throughout the Pacific Northwest
and Northern California for his smokin’ electric slide guitarwork, his
masterful finger-picking Delta blues, and his tasteful slide and solo work
on acoustic and homemade cigar box guitars. His music is always
foot-stompin’, danceable, and authentic — combining traditional blues with a
contemporary energy.
It was the 70s when Robert Cray and
Curtis Salgado emerged as kings of the
newly revitalized blues scene in Eugene. Animal House brought John Belushi
to the area — a visit that later inspired the
Blues Brothers. And Jerry Zybach,
already heavily into playing music since his teens, heard his first blues on
a Portland radio station. He was hooked. Over the years, he and his guitar
followed it to Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, and beyond, but always came
back to play in the Eugene area where he was born and raised.
