Best known as the lead vocalist of Canada's Juno Award
winning Blues band FATHEAD, John Mays, was born in Dawson, Georgia in 1941,
(same year and hometown as Otis Redding). John first "found" of music
singing Gospel in Southern Churches as a child during the 1940's, he
graduated to d a lovsinging Doo-Wop on the street corners of New York in the
50's, R&B in clubs during the 60's and Funk in the 1970's while touring for
several years with James Brown. A warm, intelligent, charismatic artist,
John Mays lights up any room he's in with both his voice and his sense of
humour. He's a 6 time MapleBlues "Male Vocalist of the Year" Award Winner
(Canada's BMA), it's an immense pleasure to release “I Found A Love”
Electro-Fi's 70th CD on John Mays' 70th Birthday! This album is dedicated to
the many people who have come up to me over the years, usually in a noisy
club at 2 am, after a night of being held spellbound by John's voice, and
strongly requested we record a John Mays album a.s.a.p. Foremost amongst
these good and patient people: Lynne Tattersall, Mako Funasaka, Andrew
Kempa. and Bruce Greenaway. My thanks as well to the Fathead family.
