Jona's Blues Band(JBB) was born in Rome in 1985 from the meeting between four musicians who where mad about blues. So they started to play in several festival concerts and all around music halls in Rome. Basic formation was made up by: Luca Casagrande( guitar ), Marco Corteggiani( harmonica and voice ), Gianni Franchi ( electric bass and voice ), Ranieri De Luca ( drums ).The band was recognizable in the Capitolian blues landscape for the adaptation with original arrangements of classics of blues, and for the composition of originals pieces.

” To be happy “ its a JBB piece enclosed in a Carlo Verdone film soundtrack ( Maledetto il giorno che ti ho incontrato ).

In 1994 JBB performed at Pistoia Blues Festival opening the last night, at Calagonone Jazz 91, Sabina Blues Festival, Blues and Jazz Mediterraneo, and so on. In the 90's JBB performed with Chicago Beau(singer/harmonica player), with Shawn Logan(singer), and musicians like James Thompson and Herbie Goins. Also the legendary Tony Scott, jazz clarinet player(he was in some recording with Billie Holiday!!!), performed with JBB. To bring to the notice the Luca Casagrande(JBB guitarist) exhibition in 1993 at Teatro Tenda Striscie in Rome with one of JBB idols: Jimmy Witherspoon.

In 2000 JBB decide to take a break, and its musicians can address theirselves to personal projects and different musical experiences. The break ended in 2006 when JBB, like in the movie The Blues Brothers, came together again for a concert at Stazione Birra ( Roma) to realize a recording project.

Andrea De Luca (nephew of Ranieri), guitarist, vocalist and composer, grew up listening to the JBB music evidences and performances, and after several musical experiences with other band of Rome he joined JBB in 2007, as his most natural opening. On 25th November 2007,at Stazione Birra(Roma), JBB into its new formation was at “Concerto per Giulia”, charity performance in aid of the association “Le Formiche”, with so many guests: Marco Meucci(Red Wagons) on piano and voice, Mike Applebaum(trumpet), Eric Daniel(sax), Genzo Okabe(Capolinea) on sax, Rodolfo Maltese with Luca Barberini, Pierluigi Calderoni and Massimo Alviti, Roland Ricuarte with his band “Flor en la piedra”. Thanks to all who attended and helped us during all these years. Now Paola Ronci, young and bluesy girl from Rome, together with Andrew De Luca is a singer of the band.
