The Too Tight Trio is the fortunate offspring of three highly accomplished
musicians combining forces to give birth to a spellbinding repertoire of
music that breathes with depth and poignancy rarely heard in an age of
processed musical production. From sanguine jazz- infused ballads to intense
rock, ...from R & B forays, to timeless sounding originals ...the Too Tight
Trio delivers music that is both extra special and gripping.
Fronted by the legendary talents of Sheldon “Kip” Meaker, the band has it’s
own big shoes to fill. Kip has enjoyed a stellar and varied career from
stints with Asleep at The Wheel, The Edgar Winter Band, as well as being
tapped to be the original singer for the band "Boston" by leader, Tom
Scholz. Kip possesses a mesmerizing style on the guitar, and a voice that
ranks among the finest on the planet.
Kip is flanked by multi-instrumentalist and keyboard wizard, Phil Abair.
Phil has toured with members of Phish (in the Pork Toronado band) and is
noted for his ultra-musical sense…. knowing exactly what to play in any
style and moment. The Too Tight Trio showcases Phil's amazing ability to
cover bass duties with his left hand, while covering everything from piano
to the B-3 organ and strings with his right hand.
Groovemaster, Ken “Sugar G” Gulfield, is the only candidate that could hold
down the rhythm chair effectively for the trio. Ken is noted for his stellar
drum work in many great bands, but most recently as the original drummer for
the Grippo Funk Band.
