Led by Vincent Hayes on vocals and guitar, and
fueled by one of the tightest rhythm sections in modern blues, the
Vincent Hayes Project has recently been receiving world wide acclaim for
their new CD release of original inspired blues titled, "Reclamation",
which has spent two consecutive months on the Living Blues Top 25 Chart
in both June & July 2010, and nine consecutive weeks to date on the
National Roots Music Chart. Since its release in March 2010, the disc
has received airplay on over 200 stations world wide, quickly becoming a
favorite of DJ’s and fans alike. On July 4, it was also added to the
playlist of the “Blues Deluxe” program, which is syndicated on over 100
U.S. stations. Most recently, Reclamation has been added to regular
rotation on “B.B. King’s Bluesville”
Channel 74 on Sirius/XM Radio. In addition to being semi-finalists in the 2006 & 2007 IBC, and
opening shows for Ludicris, Steve Miller Band,
Joe Bonamassa and others, in the
summer of 2007, The Vincent Hayes Project toured with counter-culture
icon John Sinclair as his band of “Blues Scholars”. Live, the band has a
reputation as a high-energy unit, with an unstoppable rhythm section,
fueled by Hayes’s charismatic stage presence and dynamic guitar work.
Formed in 2004 as a three piece power trio (David “The Butcher” Alves-bass,
Donnie “The Guru of Groove” Hugley-percussion), the West Michigan-based
blues trio recently expanded to a five piece, incorporating the piano
wizardry of both Steve “Doc” Yankee, and newcomer Christian Van
Antwerpen on Hammond B3. Vincent Hayes is a also regular contributor of articles for The Blues Festival Guide, and is a board member of Killer Blues, a non-profit which is firmly committed to raising money to purchase headstones for deceased blues artists. www.killerblues.net In the fall of 2009, at the referral of 2010 BMA nominee Greg Nagy,
the band enlisted Grammy winning producer/engineer Glenn Brown (Greg
Nagy, Root Doctor, Spinal Tap, Larry McCray) to help them record
“Reclamation.” Glenn also owns the infamous “Muscle Shoals” 1978 8098
Neve mixing board, which is the very console used on legendary
recordings by Bob Dylan, The Allman
Brothers, Eric Clapton, and countless others. The result is a big,
warm sound, reminiscent of those early analogue Muscle Shoals
recordings. “Reclamation” is a blues record that will take you into the trenches
of the tumbling Michigan economy, where the once thriving auto-industry
has been laid to waste, and given rise to the highest unemployment rates
in the U.S. This is what it feels like to live the life of a working
blues man in the 21st century modern world of Middle America. This is
blues from the heart, played with passion, and written with honesty,
depth and wit.
