Wyland Blues Planet Band, an all-star group that includes
Taj Mahal, Rod
Piazza, Roger Lewis of the Dirty Dozen Brass Band and marine life artist
Wyland, will release their debut effort, Blues Planet, on November 22 via
Wyland Records.
Renowned marine life artist Wyland changed the way people think about our
environment when he started painting life-size whales on the sides of
buildings in the 1980s. Through his unique marine life paintings,
sculptures, and photography, Wyland has inspired a generation about the
importance of marine life conservation. Wyland now brings his artistic
vision to the masses with the release of Blues Planet. Recorded in May 2011
in New Orleans at the famed Piety Street Studios, and following the one-year
the anniversary of the Gulf Oil Spill Disaster, Blues Planet explores a new
genre of “Global Blues” that spotlights Wyland’s passion for conservation
through the blues sounds of Memphis, New Orleans, and the Mississippi Delta.
