October
is a great time of the year. The leaves are changing color as the days
are getting shorter and kids everywhere are deciding what to be for
Halloween. This year, why not dress the kids (or grand kids or even your
favorite pet) as your favorite Hot Tuna character! If
you do, send us a picture and we’ll post it on the site.
The band caught the early changes in the fall foliage coming off our
west coast tour a couple of weeks ago. It was a great run through the
upper northwest as we played some of our favorite west coast venues like
The Gothic in Englewood, CO, The Aladdin in Portland, OR and of course
Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, CA. We tried to figure out how many
times Jorma and Jack have played Golden Gate. We estimated it to be a
least “couple of dozen” times. If you think you know the answer, be sure
to let us know. If you want to see some of the set lists from the West
Coast swing, check out Jorma’s blog, Cracks In the Finish.
We are just a few weeks away from playing the season closing show at the
Fur Peace Ranch. This year’s show will feature an outstanding guitar
player and our very good friend, Steve Kimock. Steve is filling in for
GE Smith who is on tour with some guy named Roger Waters. Although the
show is sold out, there is one way to get in and see it. There are still
some open spots for Jack’s Bass Workshop. It’s always a favorite.
Speaking of Jack, there is an interesting interview of the Bass Master
over at Blues Review. In it, Jack talks about the impromptu jam session
for Jimi Hendrix’s Electric Ladyland album. It’s a good read.
It looks like the Hot Tuna Birthday Celebration for Jorma at the Beacon
Theater is just about SOLD OUT. FPR is sold out of all its tickets and
there were only a few remaining tickets at the Beacon. The Beacon has
said that some tickets may become available closer to the date of the
show. So don’t give up if you are still wanting to go to the show. Keep
checking the Beacon Web site.
We know many of you are wondering who will be at Jorma’s 70th Birthday
Celebration. Well, let’s just say that most of the special guests have
been revealed in your comments. Wink Wink!, Nudge Nudge! However, there
is one special artist we want to acknowledge. We are very pleased to
have the always exciting Bob Steeler join us Friday night. (12/3) I
don’t know what we will be playing, but I’m sure it will be LOUD, FAST
and ROCKING! Makes the hair on my neck stand up thinking about it.
