![]() “Classic Licks with a Fresh Vibe” is not just RoadBlock’s mantra – it’s their reality! With their ages spanning more than three generations, or 36 years to be exact, it’s not hard to see how each of them contribute a unique musical imprint that makes them an act you don’t want to miss. When guitar player, JJ “The Hat” Jensen, was born in Marion, North Carolina, Steve G was already married, raising two sons and pounding the keys with a New Wave band on Long Island. Tom-Tom was a young session drummer in Nashville performing at Opryland. Jerry P was still in high school thumping the bass for a hard rock band in east Texas while Rachael, the lead singer, was tinkering away on a toy piano at her pre-school in Croton–on-the-Hudson, New York. Just over 20 years and many musical miles later, RoadBlock converged in Orlando, and became known as one of Central Florida’s favorite jam bands. They began to establish their unique sound by rejuvenating Blues, Motown and Rock hits while hosting open jam sessions throughout the city. The airy resonance of Steve’s "Hammondesque" keys coupled with JJ’s “tasty” slide guitar was breathing new life into those classic songs, but with a new feel. Soon they began to develop their unique sound with collaborations that were driven by Tom-Tom’s synchronous percussion and Jerry P’s silky smooth bass groove. This combination of creative instrumentation was blended with Rachael’s soulful vocal harmonies giving a new twist to the meaning of fresh. RoadBlock - “Classic Licks ~ Fresh Vibe” – don’t miss it!
